INTRODUCTION - THE CLUB
Founded by Mr Edward Ernest Villers, the original Club was located in the Dormy House. The current Clubhouse was built and opened in 1972 and many changes were made to the course at this time in preparation for the Clubs' 70th Anniversary.

Little has changed in the Clubhouse, which is small by modern standards but SLGC is now emerging from a unique and incredible history, where all service in the Clubhouse were provided by the members for the past 100 years & the Ladies enjoyed an enviable reputation for home baked cakes!

Our new Clubhouse team, are committed to build upon the great traditions of the past, whilst developing professional and friendly services which all our visitors and members have a right to expect and enjoy at SLGC.

The Club enjoys many matches, a very healthy competition diary and an enviable trophy schedule and works hard to ensure that all our members are catered for, whether they enjoy competition or social golf.

SLGC also enjoys an excellent reputation for Open events and during 2010, our Calendar features 20 different events for Mixed Social Sunday golf, Ladies, Juniors and a number of combined Golf and bridge events, which are most popular.

Whilst this schedule has certainly grown, our Opens were the best and only real opportunity for visitors to play our course in the past.

We enjoy a very regular schedule of visits from many wonderful Societies and Associations, who have enjoyed our Club for many years, whilst always exploring every opportunity to allow new golfers to enjoy our facilities.

Visitors are always welcome at SLGC and Green Fees are available 7 days per week.
